The start-up Ecko-Pack has developed a cost-effective alternative to conventional MAP plastic trays. The new solution consists mainly of cardboard and is designed to make the transition easier for food manufacturers.<\/p>\n

The Ecko-Pack cardboard trays are suitable for perishable and ultra-fresh foods such as fish, meat, salads, berries and ready meals. The start-up aims to create a Affordable alternative to conventional MAP plastic trays<\/strong> offer. The new trays are made of 80 per cent cardboard and only 20 per cent plastic.<\/p>\n

To meet the different needs of the industry, the company has now added further moulds to its range, including the Ecko round tray<\/strong>. It is particularly stable thanks to its 8-sided shape and is also suitable for heavier products. The small Ecko dummy tray<\/strong> allows a view of the delicacies packaged in it at the fresh food or butcher's counter, while the Ecko snack tray<\/strong> for small snacks in between meals or for dressings or sauces.<\/p>

Ecko-Pack components easy to separate<\/h2>\n

All trays consist of two components: approx. 80 per cent cardboard and a wafer-thin liner film made of PE or PP<\/strong>, which ensures the freshness of the product - even in a modified atmosphere. As separating the components is usually the biggest hurdle when recycling composite packaging, the start-up consulted an expert advisory board and found a solution to make the components extremely easy to separate.<\/p>\n
