Sappi and ISBC are jointly launching a paper with printed electronics that is also intended for use as a labelling paper. Despite the RFID chips embedded in the RFID paper, the paper surface remains flat, smooth and easy to print on.

Printed electronics are on the rise. RFID technology for contactless data exchange is no longer a niche technology and is already being used in many areas of everyday life. However, it also offers new opportunities for the printing industry. Against this background ISBC<\/a> developed an RFID paper and launched it on the market. The ISBC RFID paper in sheet format is made from 100 per cent fibre-based Swiss Matt paper substrate.<\/strong> produced by Sappi. The RFID chips are embedded in the paper sheets and have no effect on the paper surface - it remains flat and smooth.<\/p>\n

The Swiss Matt paper from Sappi<\/a> is mainly used as a paper for large-format inkjet printing, but its white surface, good printing results and Scratch and water resistance<\/strong> also for the production of the RFID paper from ISBC.<\/p>

Cost-effective printed electronics
\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n

With the ISBC RFID paper, print shops can now add printed electronics to their portfolio. It contains an RFID chip and is just as easy to print on as a normal sheet of paper<\/strong>. This makes it a cost-efficient solution for print shops. Another advantage of the \"sandwich product\" is that it can be printed using different printing processes and machines. This eliminates the need for costly in-house development and investment in new equipment, software and business processes.<\/p>\n

The required information can simply be transferred to the RFID chip embedded in the paper: For the encoding process, ISBC has developed a special coding machine<\/strong> and developed its own training material. The RFID paper range from Swiss Matt is used, among other things for labels, advertising flyers, POS materials, brand protection labels or business cards<\/strong> used.<\/p>
