To date, however, most barrier coatings that are laminated onto cardboard to protect food are still largely made from plastics based on fossil raw materials. With Bio E <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iggesund.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-schema-attribute=\"\">Holmen Iggesund<\/a> now <strong>a sustainable barrier coating<\/strong>which consists of 75 per cent renewable raw materials.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\"The previous generation of our bio-based barrier coatings only consisted of around 30 per cent renewable raw materials. The coating fulfils both<strong> European requirements as well as those of the US FDA for food contact products<\/strong> and is therefore suitable for all types of food packaging.
