Trainees, students and young professionals have just 24 hours to work on ideas and concepts for better reuse of packaging. To this end, Nespresso and the German Sustainability Award Foundation are inviting people to take part in an online hackathon.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If you ask Nespresso, the brand has been committed to greater sustainability for more than three decades - from coffee cultivation to capsule recycling. As a sponsor of the German Sustainability Award Foundation, Nespresso wants to continue on the path towards sustainability. The latest innovation is also the introduction of the first capsule with 80 % recycled aluminium with the aim of successively producing capsules with at least 80 % recycled aluminium.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Not just for Nespresso, but for all companies: packaging is important for the shelf life and transport of products. To make packaging sustainable, design and material are the most important factors. Nespresso deliberately uses aluminium for its capsules, as the material not only protects the precious coffee from external influences, but is also very easy to recycle, making it ideal for a circular economy.\u00a0<\/p>

In order to improve the reuse of packaging and valuable resources, Nespresso is inviting trainees, students and young professionals to work on ideas, concepts and innovative solutions for the question of how the waste recycling system for packaging can be further developed towards 100 % Closed-Loop within just 24 hours at the DNP14 \u201eTransformathon\u201c.<\/p>

Nespresso will provide the participants with two experts to help them find solutions together: Tim Decken, Sustainability Manager and Marco Lescher, Supply Chain Manager at Nespresso, will answer questions and support the participants.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Social added value in just 24 hours: in the online hackathon, trainees, students and young professionals from a wide range of professional backgrounds are called upon to work on a total of eight challenges for social transformation under time pressure.<\/p>

The event will take place on 24 and 25 September 2021. Around 150 participants will take part in the hackathon, working for 24 hours on a question relating to the five topics of climate, biodiversity, resources, society and supply chain. The winners will receive 1,000 euros in prize money per person and the prospect of realising their innovative idea together with the co-host of the challenge.<\/p>

Interested parties can apply in advance using an online form. In the second step, the foundation and the partners jointly make a selection from the applicants.<\/p>
