With Niederwieser Spa, the South Tyrolean food company Dr Sch\u00e4r has launched what it claims is the world's first packaging for gluten-free bread made from certified recycled plastic. This not only preserves the flavour of the products, but also protects them from contamination.<\/strong><\/p>

The new packaging will be launched in Europe at the end of 2021 for the gluten-free sandwich rolls, Sch\u00e4r Panini Rolls, and will be made with recycled plastic that is through chemical recycling from mixed plastic waste<\/strong> was recovered from consumers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The partnership between the two family-owned companies Dr Sch\u00e4r and Niederwieser Spa is based on the common Vision of a sustainable future and a functioning circular economy<\/strong>. The use of recycled materials is playing an increasingly important role in the food packaging sector. Currently, the recycling of plastics in Europe is mainly carried out using mechanical processes. However, the recyclate obtained is not suitable for use in food contact packaging due to migration, hygiene and performance issues.<\/p>

This is where chemical recycling comes into play, which also Recyclates from packaging or composite materials already in use<\/strong> makes it reusable. The available quantity of the new type of recyclate is very limited and the recycling process is somewhat more complex.
