The British information service provider ICIS launched an online database for chemical recycling at the end of October 2021. This allows recycling targets and capacities of companies from all over the world to be viewed.<\/strong><\/p>

The targets set by brand owners and regulatory authorities have contributed to an increasing demand for recycled plastics worldwide, particularly for the Use in food and beverage packaging<\/strong>. However, the supply of high-quality, food-grade recycled polymer material remains limited. To assist the industry in effectively securing the supply of recycled resins suitable for these applications, ICIS has published the Recycling Supply Tracker - Chemical<\/em> which provides FMCGs, chemical manufacturers, large processors and retailers with the most comprehensive overview of the emerging chemical recycling market.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Many industry players have public sustainability targets and need to know the capacity in the market to ensure they can source the materials required to meet these targets. From 2021, the Global capacity for chemical recycling less than 2.5 million tonnes<\/strong>, including commercial and pre-commercial installations, with Asia-Pacific and North America being the leading regions. The ICIS Recycling Supply Tracker - Chemical<\/em> is constantly updated with new projects and project developments and helps the industry to understand the pace of growth in this sector. Less than 30 per cent of the projects are currently in operation on a commercial scale, but more than half of the identified plants are expected to go into operation in the next three years<\/strong>.<\/p>
