The global economy is grinding to a halt and has been doing so for many months now. German foreign trade has so far been little affected by this. But it doesn't have to stay that way.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>

\u201cThere has been a lot of sand in the gears of global trade for some time now, and yet German foreign trade remains stable. Companies are still struggling with the chaotic logistics situation, bottlenecks in primary products and high energy prices<\/strong> - with success so far.\u201d This was stated by Dirk Jandura, President of the German Wholesale, Foreign Trade and Services Association (BGA<\/a>), on 9 November in Berlin on the development of German foreign trade.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Federal Statistical Office had previously announced the foreign trade figures for September 2021. According to these figures, goods worth 117.8 billion euros were exported. Exports thus increased by 7.1 per cent compared to the previous year. With a value of goods of 101.6 billion euros, German imports also increased by 12.9 per cent compared to the previous year. The foreign trade balance thus closed with a surplus of 16.2 billion euros in September.<\/strong><\/p>

\u201cThe consequences of the strained supply chains are becoming more noticeable. Companies have to pay higher prices to have their goods transported at all. And customers feel that in the end.<\/strong> Bottlenecks in raw materials and primary products as well as higher energy prices are also leading to an increase in prices. We therefore expect foreign trade to cool down towards the end of the year.<\/strong> It is therefore all the more important that the next federal government intensively endeavours to develop a new foreign trade strategy. Companies in foreign trade urgently need to be strengthened,\u201d concluded Jandura.<\/p>
