The topic of \u201ePlastics and recycling\u201c was the focus of the P\u00f6ppelmann Researchers' Week at the beginning of November. The cooperation partner was the Lohne Industrial Museum. Almost 460 pupils and their school classes took part in workshops on the weekdays. More than 250 young and older plastics researchers joined them at the weekend.<\/strong><\/p>

There was great praise for the P\u00f6ppelmann<\/a>-trainees, who supervised the hands-on stations with great commitment, according to a press release from the plastics company in Lohne. The management of the museum, Ulrike Hagemeier and Benno Dr\u00e4ger, expressed their delight at this renewed and successful cooperation with the plastics company. \u201ePlastics processing is one of the leading industries in the region<\/strong>. It is important for us to show what the future holds for this industry,\u201c said Ulrike Hagemeier. Benno Dr\u00e4ger thanked the P\u00f6ppelmann company for its commitment. \u201eThanks to the many interactive elements in the workshops, we succeeded in inspiring the children and young people.\u201c<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As a large-scale event like the Researchers' Day three years ago was out of the question due to the coronavirus, the organisers opted for Workshops in smaller groups<\/strong> decided over the course of an entire week. The new format proved to be a recipe for success. This time there was enough time to discover the individual stations in a quiet atmosphere, ask questions, look and marvel. Teacher Julia Rie\u00dfelmann from the Franziskus School in Lohne described the effect as follows: \u201eThe children were super-motivated thanks to the good supervision<\/strong>.\"<\/p>

Her colleague Nathalie Wobbeler from the H\u00f6ner Mark primary school in Dinklage confirmed: \u201eThe topic of recycling has been implemented very intensively and practically here. The children take a lot away with them.\u201c Quite literally, too: those who found the solution word with the correct answers in the question check for plastics researchers, received a certificate as well as some small rewards.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Julia Uptmoor, Head of Marketing Communications at P\u00f6ppelmann, led the project team that prepared the event. \u201eWe would like to provide differentiated information about plastic as a material<\/strong> and make it clear that the goals of the circular economy can only be achieved if everyone participates,\u201c she said.<\/p>

This includes knowledge of the background to recycling, starting with the correct disposal of waste. \u201eThis is the first prerequisite, to preserve valuable materials for the material cycle<\/strong>, so that they can be used again and again.\u201c It is very important to inform the next generation about the background.<\/p>
