The two new Cryovac Eco BDF films can be recycled mechanically with LDPE recycling or in chemical recycling processes.<\/p>\n<p>The new range includes Eco BDF20M, which is made from 100 per cent new materials, and the barrier film <strong>Eco rBDF20M with a proportion of 30 per cent Certified Circular Resins (CCR)<\/strong>. Both films have been developed and tested in accordance with the protocols published by the Association of Plastics Recyclers (APR), and these procedures are in line with those of Plastic Recyclers Europe (PRE).<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201eRecycling strategies are on the rise across Europe, with infrastructures in different countries at different stages of development. Our aim was to develop new barrier films that optimise recycling compatibility across this diverse spectrum. Similarly, the expertise of food processors, retailers and manufacturers is improving as countries increasingly move towards a circular economy.\u201c <strong>Arnaud Brunet,<\/strong> Food Films Portfolio Director EMEA at <a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?s=sealed+air\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sealed Air<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The advantages of the new <a href=\"https:\/\/sealedair.in\/en-gb\/cryovac-ecobdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Eco BDF<\/a>-Sustainability films are <strong>reinforced by an ultra-thin barrier<\/strong>. At 21 microns, both films are lighter and thinner than other commonly used thermoformable films. Arnaud Brunet added: \u201eThe recyclability of the new films is complemented by the properties of the Cryovac brand. The medium barrier helps to reduce food waste by extending shelf life and protecting food from contamination and spoilage. The systems have a range of different hot air chamber configurations and speeds for packing a variety of foods, including fresh meat, poultry, fish and cheese.<\/p>\n<p>The market launch of ECO BDF follows Sealed Air's development of the world's first food-grade soft plastic film with CCR. In 2020, Sealed Air launched the Cryovac rBDF S10 film, which consists of 30 per cent food-grade CCR and is certified by the International Sustainability &amp; Carbon Certification.
