With the planned acquisition of Scholle IPN, SIG is expanding its portfolio in the bag-in-box sector, among others. The aim is to extend the use of aseptic technology to stand-up pouches and bag-in-box packaging and drive expansion into new categories such as wine and water. The transaction is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2022.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

SIG has signed an agreement to acquire the privately held company Scholle IPN. SIG is thus expanding its portfolio of solutions for food and beverage cartons the bag-in-box and stand-up pouch categories<\/strong> for retail, institutional and industrial customers. SIG and Scholle IPN are highly complementary in terms of their systems and product offerings, so the merger will bring significant synergies. Opportunities for growth and added value<\/strong> release, they say.<\/p>

The Scholle IPN company, founded in 1945 is regarded as the inventor and world market leader in bag-in-box packaging<\/strong> (2 litre to 1500 litre capacity) and is the number two for stand-up pouches (50 millilitres to 500 millilitres). The acquisition will expand the portfolio of SIG<\/a> extended to both larger and smaller formats.<\/p>

Scholle IPN is also developing monomaterials that significantly improve recyclability. Through the Consolidation of the research and development capacities of the two companies<\/strong> customers by supporting the development of materials and aseptic technologies to reduce CO2<\/sub>-emissions and food waste.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With Plaice IPN<\/a> The food and beverage industry accounts for around 70 per cent of sales. The acquisition will enable SIG to build on its core expertise in aseptic technology and extend its use to both stand-up pouches and bag-in-box packaging. It will also support the expansion of SIG into new categories such as wine and water<\/strong>.<\/p>

Scholle IPN is headquartered in the USA and employs around 2100 people worldwide. The company's turnover in 2021 totalled 474 million euros. The USA accounts for around 55 per cent of sales<\/strong> and the acquisition will significantly increase SIG's presence in this market. It will also enable the expansion of the Scholle IPN portfolio into the emerging markets of Asia Pacific, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, where SIG is already well established.<\/p>
