No fewer than five DS Smith products were honoured with an award at the WorldStar Global Packaging Awards 2022, thus receiving the highest accolade in the international packaging industry. The winners are also international, as the innovative solutions come not only from Germany and Switzerland, but also from Denmark, Finland and Hungary.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

The WorldStar<\/a>-The World Packaging Competition is one of the most important events of the World Packaging Organisation (WPO) and the most important international award in the field of packaging. The WPO jury only evaluates packaging concepts that have already won awards in national competitions.<\/strong> have been honoured. Five entries from DS Smith are now among the winners, selected from 440 applications from 37 countries around the world.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bubeck e-commerce packaging becomes a dog basket: winner in the Pet Food category<\/strong><\/p>

As a goodie for its online customers and their four-legged friends, Bubeck Petfood delivered its wide range of dog food and accessories for a short time in special shipping packaging from DS Smith<\/a> in Germany and Switzerland. Their The lower section can be turned into a practical, hexagonal dog basket made of corrugated cardboard in just a few simple steps using the \"do it yourself\" method.<\/strong> and thus continue to use it.<\/p>

The three-part e-commerce shipping carton made from 100 per cent corrugated cardboard provides Absolutely safe transport even with heavy weights thanks to the plug-in base and U-shaped insert<\/strong> of Bubeck Petfood products. B\u00fcbchen Skincare sustainability display: winner in the Health and Personal Care category<\/strong><\/p>

B\u00fcbchen will save 116 tonnes of plastic in 2021 alone with its new bottle made from 100% recycled plastic. The environmentally friendly packaging and its mildly nourishing contents will be promoted in stores with an equally sustainable, recyclable sales display from DS Smith. To maximise attention at the POS, the display was designed as an XXL version of the iconic B\u00fcbchen bottle. The Display body made of natural brown corrugated cardboard consists of 100 per cent recycled material<\/strong>. The monomaterial solution made of corrugated cardboard can be fully recycled and thus remains a valuable raw material.<\/p>

The display design has the necessary stability to support the products without the need for plastic<\/strong>. Assembly and packaging are extremely simple thanks to the pre-glued body: in retail, just remove the cover and sales can begin. The brand-consistent sales display has already been recognised by the jury of the German Packaging Award in the product presentation category.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Palpa Twist Recycling Container: Winner in the Other category<\/strong><\/p>

Based on customer needs, DS Smith in Finland has developed a new recycling container. The empty containers are sent to retailers who collect empty cans and PET bottles in a special filling machine that collects the cans and bottles for recycling. When transported flat, the container fits on a Euro pallet. This new innovative container is Ready for use in just 30 seconds thanks to the sealed base flaps and the manually locked upper structure<\/strong>. This brings efficiency to shops and supermarkets and saves time and money. A complex requirement was met with a simple solution - this already convinced the jury of the ScanStar Award.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

User-friendly packaging for door handles: <\/strong>Winner in the Packaging Materials and Components category AND in the Transit category<\/strong><\/p>

This packaging for door handles from Denmark is a User-friendly solution that combines all the required parts in one package<\/strong>. An improvement on the previous plastic bags that the user had to tear open. The packaging design is simple and easy to handle. Another benefit: The user can easily calculate how many door handles are left in the packaging. This packaging solution has also already won the ScanStar.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sustainable packaging solution for semiconductors: <\/strong>Winner in the Electronics category<\/strong><\/p>

DS Smith Hungary developed a 100 per cent recyclable, size and material-optimised packaging solution<\/strong>which harmonises with a wide range of semiconductor products from Infineon Technologies. The challenge was to standardise the packaging for approximately 600 product types, to replace the inefficient manual packaging process and to increase sustainability while avoiding hazardous plastic and waste.<\/p>

The innovative Design fits into automated lines, fully protects products from mechanical and electrical discharge<\/strong> and is still user-friendly. The solution reduces weight (by 96 tonnes per year), which helps to minimise CO2<\/sub>-emissions, and offers optimised logistics (approx. 25 percent fewer pallets\/year), resulting in annual material cost savings of 56 percent.<\/p>
