This makes it all the more pleasing that the French company has teamed up with Finnish start-up Sulapac to create eco-design packaging for its new N\u00b01 cosmetics line.<\/strong><\/p><p>The entire range of packaging for N\u00b01 de Chanel is eco-designed and contains lids made from bio-based materials. They are the result of a collaboration that began in 2018 between the cosmetics manufacturer's Fragrance and Beauty Packaging Innovation Department and <strong>the Finnish material innovation start-up Sulapac<\/strong> began.<\/p><p>\u201eThe lid of the new generation of N\u00b01 de Chanel cream is made from 90 per cent bio-based materials from renewable resources: <strong>FSC-certified wood shavings, which are a by-product of industrial side streams, combined with camellia seed husks<\/strong>. This was a real technological challenge that has since led to several patent applications. Camellia is naturally a hydrophilic material, which means it absorbs a lot of water. Solving this problem was a great achievement on our part, and it was the first time that we had integrated such an ingredient into our packaging material in a customised way,\u201c says Peltola, explaining the significance of this collaboration.<\/p><p>For the new products, the weight of the jars and bottles has also been reduced and cellophane and leaflets have been dispensed with. <strong>80 per cent of N\u00b01 de Chanel products are in glass bottles and jars, some of which are refillable.<\/strong> In addition, 100 per cent of the paper and cardboard packaging materials come
