So-called RF security labels help retailers to protect goods labelled with them from theft and at the same time keep an overview of the warehouse. Until now, however, they have received little attention when it comes to recyclability. The manufacturer Checkpoint Systems has now had the recyclability of its labels certified.<\/strong><\/p>

The German-based research institute PTS tested a range of checkpoint labels that differed in size and material to ensure that the recycled fibre-based material would be of acceptable quality. Each label was applied to a piece of cardboard to simulate a real-life scenario<\/strong>. The results show that all labels are categorised as recyclable in accordance with the applicable regulations. All labels achieved an overall recycling rate of over 94 per cent.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Security labels help to reduce theft and thus ensure that products are available for purchase when consumers want to buy them. Retailers use a variety of labels to protect their goods.<\/strong> They work with suppliers to label items at source or rely on shop staff to apply the labels in-store.<\/p>

Until today, however, the recyclability of these labels was relatively unknown. This means that retailers and consumers could have inadvertently contaminated the waste paper cycle with millions of security labels<\/strong>.<\/p>

\u201eSecurity labels play an important role in protecting our own profits. But it is important that they do not prevent the packaging from being fully recycled. We are very pleased about the PTS accreditation, which shows that our labels can be recycled via the existing collections<\/strong>\u201e, says the company.<\/p>
