Not only gifts and products, but also rubbish. To make this process more material-efficient, a Swedish company has developed an ingenious solution: an endless bin liner.

The invention goes by the name of Longopac and the name actually gives the system away. Instead of individually tear-off tubes, the solution from Swedish company Paxxo consists of a single, long tube made of three-layer polyethylene, which is made from up to 50 per cent recycled material. The hose can be hung in a suitable stand, cut off if necessary, tied up and thrown into the appropriate container for collection. The now open end of the hose can be pulled back to the desired length from the coiled reserve, tied with a cable tie and used to store the next unit of waste.

The Swedes offer three different diameter variants, which in turn come in different colours and thicknesses. There is also an option made from biodegradable plastic. According to the company, the system can reduce CO2 emissions by up to a third compared to a conventional system. This saving is due not least to the fact that the roll-off method results in less "empty space" in the bin liner. In Germany, the product is marketed by Pacbar GmbH.

Source: Pacbar GmbH

A lot of packaging is used in German households.
