In March, cosmetics manufacturer Lush is now also introducing a take-back programme for its plastic containers in Germany. Customers can exchange their empty containers for a credit note that can be offset against their next purchase. The programme was already launched in the UK and Ireland in 2021.<\/strong><\/p>

At Lush, the majority of the plastic packaging used is made from recycled and reusable plastic. Due to its durability and relative ease of cleaning, it is well suited to the cosmetics company's products.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In order to guarantee a high return rate of the containers, customers have been able to exchange five empty containers for a face mask in the chain's shops. This programme called \u201eBring It Back\u201c, which has been in place since 2008, will continue to be offered - but has now been expanded to include another option: Since March 2022, the company's customers in Germany have also been able to exchange emptied bins in shops for a 50 cent credit, which can then be offset against their next purchase.<\/strong><\/p>

The new \u201eBring It Back\u201c programme is helping to give the packaging the new, further life it should have. Since the programme was introduced in the UK around a year ago, over 569,000 items of packaging have been returned there<\/strong>, which saved more than 13 tonnes of plastic from potentially ending up in landfill or being incinerated.<\/p>
