The Lifocolor Group has developed its annual trend colour series Colour Road on a 100% recycled polypropylene basis for the first time. The result is twelve shades of blue and green as well as red accents that not only set trends but also fulfil the requirements of the linear recycling economy. \"The development of colours for circular plastics is more demanding and complex than that for virgin materials. We tend to use lighter and darker PCR mixtures as a starting point. A lighter polymer fraction can be coloured in attractive shades with greater variety and less colourant. As a result, the masterbatch concentration and colouring costs in the end product can remain moderate. Lighter-coloured polymer fractions are often less available due to the more complex sorting and processing. Darker grades currently limit the variety of colouring options: The darker the target or desired colour shade, the more realistic and cost-efficient the result.<\/strong> Light colours can hardly be achieved with darker raw materials, or only at great expense.\"<\/p>

In order to be able to present and explain the possibilities and limitations of colouring recyclates in consultation, the Lifocolour<\/a> the New 2023 trend colours from the Colour Road Trend Report on plastic colouring for the first time on a 100 percent recycled polypropylene basis<\/strong> adjusted. A darker and lighter recycled grade were used as the polymer to be coloured in order to include the different intrinsic colours, availability and advantages of the grades on the market as examples.<\/p>

\"Our interpretation of Colour Road 2023 shows that recycled plastic products can be coloured in trendy colours in the future, even in an increasingly circular economy. Due to the complete recyclate base and design for the circular flow, the twelve shades were equipped with stable colourants that can withstand a large number of recycling cycles with corresponding processing temperatures as well as high temperature stability and migration resistance.\"<\/p>

In addition to the main line, Lifocolor and Renolit are also launching a Colour Road 2023 especially with colours for the cosmetics industry<\/strong> out. This trend colour series will also be launched in some shades based on 100% recycled polypropylene and will be presented at the Cosmetic Business trade fair at the beginning of June 2022.<\/p>
