The Swabian packaging specialist Multivac switched its energy supply to green electricity at the beginning of the year. The company expects to save around 20,000 tonnes of CO2<\/sub> to be able to make savings.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201eIndustry consumes around 45 per cent of the electricity in Germany. The contribution to climate protection that companies can make by switching to green electricity is correspondingly high,\u201c said Christian Traumann, Managing Director at Multivac<\/a>. \u201eWe therefore do not want to exhaust the grace periods for the switchover. As an industrial company, we see it as our responsibility to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels as quickly as possible and to minimise CO2<\/sub>-emissions.<\/strong> We are therefore switching to environmentally friendly green electricity at our production sites in Germany and Austria with immediate effect.\u201c<\/p>\n

In order to make the switch to green electricity quickly, Multivac has concluded a supplier contract with Technische Werke Schussental (TWS), which has been supplying all German sites with certified green electricity with proof of origin and reinvestment in renewable energies as a regional partner since January 2022.<\/strong> The Ravensburg-based company produces and sells exclusively green electricity and operates 27 power generation plants. With these plants, TWS generated around 72 million kilowatt hours of green electricity in 2021.<\/p>

The official presentation of the certificate took place in Wolfertschwenden on 12 April. Armin Feser, TWS Sales Manager and Manuel Erens, Business Customer Sales at TWS, presented the certificate to Christian Traumann, Managing Director of Multivac, and Alexander Hauschke, Executive Vice President Corporate Strategy.<\/p>\n
