Line scan cameras are used in folding carton production, for example, when a complex adhesive application is required. But this requires reliable lighting. The Krefeld-based company Baumer hhs is now presenting LED line lighting for its in-house Xcam camera system, which allows producers to save time when retooling.<\/strong><\/p>

In the production of complex folding cartons, such as six-packs or special designs, it is not possible to produce a large number of gluing points. It is more favourable to monitor the adhesive application with line scan cameras instead of individual sensors.<\/strong> Many customers of Baumer hhs<\/a> use the company's Xcam camera systems here. The Krefeld-based company has developed new high-performance line lighting with power LEDs<\/strong> which enables them to set up their folder-gluers a few minutes faster when changing jobs.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

No readjustment, no retrofitting<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With the new line lighting with power LEDs, the entire system is designed for optimum illumination. \u201eMonitoring the adhesive application with line scan cameras requires homogeneous and very bright illumination so that the quality of the adhesive application can be reliably recognised even at high machine speeds<\/strong>. Our new lighting guarantees this even at distances of up to 250 millimetres. It can therefore be mounted above the roller cheeks in our customers' folder gluers. This means that our new line lighting does not need to be readjusted or retooled when changing jobs.<\/strong> The set-up times previously required for this are no longer necessary. At the same time, the work of the machine operators is made much easier,\u201c says Thomas Walther, Head of Business Development at Baumer hhs.<\/p>

The new lighting from Baumer hhs serves as a Replacement for mercury-containing UV tubes<\/strong>, which many folding carton manufacturers continue to use in the quality assurance of their adhesive application. Walther: \u201eIt is foreseeable that the exemption authorisation for the use of these controversial tubes contained in the RoHS Directive will not be extended for reasons of occupational safety. Consequently, folding carton manufacturers who currently still use UV tubes for quality control need a suitable alternative.<\/strong> We provide them with this with our new line lighting.\u201c<\/p>
