Werit Kunststoffwerke recently converted the old lighting technology to modern LED lighting from LED Technics Germany, which consumes around 70 per cent less electricity. The refurbishment was subsidised with a government grant for efficient buildings.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Werit Kunststoffwerke produces industrial packaging such as IBC containers, canisters, reusable transport packaging, plastic pallets and industrial and heating oil tanks<\/strong> at six locations in Europe, including the headquarters in Altenkirchen, Buchholz and Ottendorf-Okrilla.<\/p>

Almost all products are reusable and can be brought into the second or third cycle through reconditioning or recycling<\/strong>. In general, there is hardly any plastic waste in the company; a large proportion of the recycled containers are ground, mixed in and reused.<\/p>

\u201eWe have been DIN ISO 50001-certified since 2014 and have been continuously optimising our resource and energy efficiency ever since. Our most important key figure here is the Specific energy consumption per kilogramme of plastic processed<\/strong> (kWh\/kg PE). We have reduced this value by 12.5 per cent in seven years, saving 9.2 gigawatt hours of electricity at the main plant in Altenkirchen alone.\u201c<\/p>

Werit<\/a> initially invested in the areas that offered the greatest savings potential, such as compressed air generation. Finally, in 2021, an injection moulding machine and the pumps in the cold water system were replaced, an assembly machine was refurbished and now the lighting in the production halls has been converted to an LED system. The contract for this was awarded to the Cologne-based company LED Technics Germany<\/a> received, which develops its own LED lights and systems with the aim of making the energy transition simple and affordable for SMEs.<\/strong> to make<\/p>

\u201eWith the light burning for a good 6,000 hours in three-shift operation, there was great potential for savings here. This was also demonstrated by the lighting design and the profitability calculation that LED Technics Germany (LTG) presented to us during the tender process.\u201c<\/p>
