At the third Packaging Valley Makeathon, the dialogue between members, technology partners, universities and students once again led to creative and innovative solutions. At five locations, 50 participants developed solutions for digital and sustainable processes in the packaging industry.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Around 50 participants at the Schw\u00e4bisch Hall, Waiblingen, Heilbronn, Kempten and Allmersbach im Tal locations dealt with issues relating to smart solutions for digitalisation and resource conservation in the packaging industry. With Harro H\u00f6fliger<\/a> The first practical solutions were designed using the latest technologies to optimise the Track machine components along the entire supply chain<\/strong> and not only to determine the CO2 footprint of the components, but also to reduce or optimise it as a result.<\/p>

How can a digital machine logbook for existing machines succeed? With Syntegon<\/a> ideas were realised on how to Gain more information via sensors and cameras on and around the machine<\/strong> that benefit process efficiency and operator safety - regardless of the machine's control system.<\/p>

In the task of Optima & W\u00fcrth<\/a> solutions were successfully found as to how AI can be used in logistics to achieve a ensure optimum utilisation when packing shipping cartons<\/strong> and secure packaging. The idea of recognising the position and orientation with the support of a Matlab-based image recognition algorithm was implemented in a short space of time.<\/p>

Also at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences in co-operation with Balluff<\/a> students from the Mechatronics and Robotics degree programme, under the supervision of Professor Peter Ott, dealt with the topic of packaging and packaging content and investigated the potential of radar in packaging technology<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201eIt's great to see how our original idea of the Makeathon is being carried forward and how our approach to the Education 4.0 principle continues to grow. The Packaging Valley Makeathon challenges and encourages unusual and creative ideas and is an enrichment in finding ideas for sustainable solutions in the packaging industry. All three Makeathons were a great success for everyone involved. This year, we are particularly proud to be both organiser and sponsor of the Social Media Challenge. We are delighted to enable the winner of the challenge to take part in the next Smart Green Island Makeathon in Gran Canaria.\u201c<\/p>

At Kempten University of Applied Sciences, students were able to utilise the technologies available in the laboratories, such as industrial robots, robots for human-robot collaboration, AI-based image processing systems and 3D printers. The goal is also the solution: with the help of robots, a Clever interface solution developed between packaging and merchandise management system<\/strong> become.<\/p>
