Sabic and UPM Raflatac are using the material to produce packaging labels so that less plastic accumulates in rivers and oceans. The result is the first label material made from certified recycled marine plastic.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-13b7b84 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"13b7b84\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?s=sabic+&amp;cat=-1&amp;date-all=all&amp;begin=&amp;end=\">Sabic<\/a> has participated in a project with value-added partners in order to <a href=\"https:\/\/packaging-journal.de\/?s=raflatac\">UPM Raflatac<\/a> with the introduction of the <strong>world's first packaging labelling material<\/strong> made from Sabic-certified polypropylene (PP), which is based on a <strong>recycled ocean plastic (Ocean Bound Plastic, OBP)<\/strong> based. The label material is marketed under the brand name \u201aUPM Raflatac Ocean Action\u2018.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-7102e48 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"7102e48\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote><p>\u201eWe are proud to offer our customers another sustainable material choice that is backed by the advanced recycling of used plastics that would otherwise accumulate in our rivers and oceans. The sustainable procurement, appropriate collection and handling of the OBP is ensured by <strong>Zero Plastic Oceans and Control Union certified<\/strong>. HHI processes the OBP into pyrolysis oil using an advanced recycling process, and Sabic utilises this <strong>Oil as an alternative raw material for the production of certified circular Sabic PP polymer<\/strong>, which is then further processed by Taghleef into a film. From this <a href=\"https:\/\/www.upmraflatac.com\/de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">UPM Raflatac<\/a> finally the label material.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0b94927 exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0b94927\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The plastic waste used in the process value chain of the Ocean Action label material is certified in accordance with the Zero Plastics Oceans programme. The final <strong>Label material is also certified in accordance with the requirements of the International Sustainability &amp; Carbon Certification (ISCC) programme<\/strong>. Both types are suitable for <strong>Consumer goods for daily needs<\/strong> (FMCG), such as household items, personal care products, packaged food and beverages. As Sabic's certified circular PP behaves in the same way as comparable fossil-based virgin PP, the switch to the OBP-based material solution required <strong>No changes to the production
