The revised European standard for packaging steel is available and includes additional steel grades. The standard sets the standard for tinplate production. thyssenkrupp Rasselstein is positive about the changes.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The revised Euronorm 10202:2022 will also be available in Germany from July. It sets the standards for \u201eCold-rolled sheet metal packaging products - Electrolytically tin-plated or special chromium-plated steel\u201c and replaces the previous version from 2001<\/strong>.<\/p>

\u201eThe revision reflects the current state of the art in the production of packaging steel. We therefore welcome the changes made there and see benefits for our customers as a result of the new standards.\u201c<\/p>

The Reach-compliant chromium(VI)-free products CFPA (chromium-free passivation for tin-plated grades) and TCCT\u00a0<\/sup>(special chrome-plated packaging steel, ECCS-RC) have been included in the European standard. In addition Additional steel grades integrated in the standard<\/strong>. They reflect the trend towards increasingly harder grades. Unlike the previous version, the new standard now describes exactly how a tensile test is to be carried out.<\/p>

\u201eThis increases the comparability of steel grades from different manufacturers. However, it may also mean that individual temper designations change. Our customers can rely on the full support of our technical customer advisory service in implementing the revised standard. Our experts will approach each customer over the next few weeks and discuss the implementation together at their leisure.\u201c<\/p>

Another innovation concerns orders. According to the Euronorm, every customer will be obliged to do so in future, to provide detailed information on the intended use of the steel grade ordered<\/strong>. \u201eThis means that we can define the optimum production recipe for every application,\u201c says Tschage, explaining the advantage of the new standard. The publication process for EN 10202:2022 is therefore almost complete in all European countries.<\/p>
