In Akron, Ohio, the company already operates a large-scale plant that processes used plastics into an intermediate product that can be further processed into raw materials for new plastics and other petrochemical products.\u00a0<\/p><p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.neste.com\/about-neste\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nests<\/a> In 2020, the company acquired a minority interest in <a href=\"https:\/\/alterraenergy.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alterra Energy<\/a>. In addition, Neste is currently conducting a feasibility study to expand the processing capacity for liquefied plastic waste at its refinery in Porvoo, Finland, in order to examine investments in pre-treatment and upgrading capacities.<\/p><p>Through chemical recycling, the company aims to minimise <strong>Reduce dependence on new fossil resources<\/strong> and accelerate the transition to a circular economy in the production of polymers and chemicals.\u00a0<\/p><blockquote><p>\u201eBy acquiring the rights to Alterra Energy's technology in Europe, we can offer our partners a holistic solution.
