In Saxony-Anhalt, various partners have joined forces to campaign for a sustainable future for the aluminium industry in Saxony-Anhalt. After NRW, Aluminium Deutschland, IG Metall, IG BCE and two state ministries are now the second federal state to join the alliance.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The declaration signed today is a commitment by the alliance partners to Saxony-Anhalt and Germany as an aluminium location. It is the prelude to a Partnership between industry, social partners and politics<\/strong>, with the aim of successfully mastering the transformation to a sustainable industry and consolidating and strengthening the competitiveness of the aluminium industry. Aluminium is an important building block for the success of the European Green Deal and indispensable for the expansion of renewable energies and the ramp-up of electromobility on the path to climate neutrality. The recycling of aluminium is a lever for the decarbonisation of industry and society. In Saxony-Anhalt, Novelis AG operates the most modern and largest aluminium recycling plant in the world<\/strong>.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201eThe close alliance between business, politics and trade unions is a strong signal for the future. Together, we want to set the course to secure Saxony-Anhalt as a location for aluminium. For me, the focus is on further increasing the recycling rate, the rapid expansion of renewable energies and the transformation to climate-neutral production. The Aluminium Alliance North Rhine-Westphalia was founded in November 2021 on the initiative of the two primary smelter operators Speira and Trimet and the trade unions IG Metall<\/a> and IGBCE and has been continuously developed since then. The Saxony-Anhalt Aluminium Alliance focuses primarily on the Focus on recycling and the circular economy<\/strong>.<\/p>

\u201eThe aluminium industry is an important sector of the economy and a major employer in Saxony-Anhalt. The energy demand in this sector is high - as it is for companies in the chemical, glass, copper and paper industries. In order to achieve the ambitious climate targets in the state, investments are required in these energy-intensive industries. The Ministry of Economic Affairs expressly supports the goals of the Aluminium Alliance and will support investments to transform the industry as far as it can.\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>

To achieve this, we need a modern and efficient recycling industry and a reliable supply of primary aluminium that is as low-carbon and globally competitive as possible in order to meet the growing demand.\u201c<\/p><\/blockquote>
