Pyrolysis oils, which are produced as secondary raw materials during the chemical recycling of plastics, are often contaminated by other substances. With PuriCycle, BASF is now introducing catalysts and adsorbents that remove the impurities and enable the oils to be further processed and thus recycled.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

BASF<\/a> is launching PuriCycle, a new range of products for Purification of complex pyrolysis oils from plastic waste<\/strong> one. The PuriCycle portfolio includes innovative catalysts and adsorbents specifically designed for the selective removal or conversion of a wide range of impurities in pyrolysis oils, thus optimising the downstream process. PuriCycle is used to clean pyrolysis oils that are produced as a secondary raw material in chemical plastics recycling. After treatment, these can be fed back into the beginning of the value chain for the production of plastics<\/strong> be purified. The purification of pyrolysis oils produced from plastic waste is technically one of the most complex processes. Challenges in chemical plastics recycling<\/strong>. Impurities such as halogen, nitrogen, oxygen and sulphur compounds as well as large quantities of reactive components such as dienes can make downstream utilisation more difficult and also significantly restrict the possibilities for further processing these product streams in the manufacture of new materials.<\/p>
