Plastic and industrial waste is being given a second life as window blinds. Venetian blind manufacturer Jaloucity has now added sustainable pleated blinds made from recycled material to its range and is working with the Waterkeeper Alliance to achieve this.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The privacy and sun protection company Jaloucity wants to reduce landfill and ocean waste with its \"RePlissees\". Every year, an estimated eight million tonnes of plastic waste end up in the world's oceans - and this figure continues to rise. The organisation Waterkeeper Alliance<\/a>\u00a0 is working to solve this problem by collecting plastic waste on the coast. Almost 100 per cent of this waste is then used to produce GreenScreen Sea-Tex yarns,<\/strong> which in turn are now used to produce environmentally friendly window hangings as well as sustainable clothing.<\/p>

The fabric supplier from whom Jaloucity obtains the pleated blind fabrics processes the yarns described above into pleated blind fabrics, which are available in various colours. JalouCity endeavours to produce the finished recycled pleated blinds (in short: \"RePlissees\"), all materials, the manufacturing techniques and the entire life cycles<\/strong> as efficient and resource-saving as possible.<\/p>

The new RePlissees are available from JalouCity shops and sales representatives. Even though the Recycle pleated blinds are made from old plastic waste, the end products are PVC-free, Oeko-Tex-certified and fulfil the Reach Compliant requirements<\/strong> (Ordinance on the Protection of Human Health and the Environment from the Risks of the Chemical Industry).<\/p>
