Fluctuating workloads, a wide variety of end-of-line packaging requirements and limited space - a modern end-of-line solution must combine two characteristics: Flexibility and reliability.<\/strong> Mosca GmbH will be showing what such a solution can look like with a live demonstration at Fachpack 2022.<\/p>

An exemplary system consisting of the KZV-321 strapping machine, driverless transport systems from partner Gebhardt Intralogistics, as well as a pallet doubler and the Saturn S-6 stretch wrapper from Mosca's Movitec brand<\/strong> secures pallets for onward transport or storage. Depending on requirements, the pallet to be secured passes flexibly through the four stations, eliminating manual steps such as the manual doubling of pallets.<\/p>

Many steps at the end of the packaging line are still carried out manually: Operators feed pallets to the repackaging machines, stack them and secure them laboriously in bundles. This practice is not only unergonomic and strenuous for employees, it is also vulnerable<\/strong>If pallets are not stacked exactly on top of each other, the bond is more unstable and the products on top can be damaged during transport or storage. In addition, the processes tie up many workers who could take on higher-value tasks - an important factor in times of a shortage of skilled labour and high sickness rates due to the coronavirus pandemic. A fully automated system promises a remedy.<\/p>

\u201eDiscussions with customers and interested parties in recent months have shown us that The demand for fully automated solutions for the end of the line has grown considerably. A fully automatic and flexible solution is very attractive, especially when staff are in short supply. It offers manufacturing companies a high degree of predictability and reliability with high throughput figures.\u201c<\/p>

Palletised products pass through the Mosca stand with the help of automated guided vehicles (AGVs) from partner Gebhardt<\/a> several handling stations. Individual pallets are first strapped vertically by Mosca's KZV-321. The fully automatic machine can be equipped with up to six tongues at three different heights and thus Strapping of up to 65 single and double pallets per hour<\/strong>. An integrated turntable makes it possible to double strap the pallets crosswise for additional stability.<\/p>

These are then transported by the Karis AGV to the Movitec pallet doubler. This lifts pallets with a maximum weight of 2000 kilograms and sets them down again after a second pallet has been driven in. In total, up to 70 individual pallets can be doubled per hour.<\/strong> At the trade fair stand, the AGV feeds the double pallet back into the KZV-321, which creates a pallet group by strapping. The strapping band is pulled through the pallet's wooden runners<\/strong>. This means that it does not rest on the products and the machines can utilise high belt tension for a particularly secure bond without damaging them. The AGV then moves the double pallet to the Saturn S6 ring wrapper, which additionally wraps it and applies a cover film to protect it from external influences such as rain and dust from above. In total, the stretch wrapper can handle up to 120 pallets per hour.<\/strong><\/p>

\u201eThe system we are presenting at FachPack is the maximum expansion stage, so to speak. First and foremost, however, we want to use the live demonstration to show the possibilities of transport securing for every company that works with pallets: The strapping for which Mosca is known, stretch wrapping and combination solutions. In principle, any of our strapping machines from machine class 2 upwards can be integrated into a fully automatic solution; this also applies to Movitec brand stretch wrappers.\u201c<\/p>

Fully automatic systems from the company Mosca<\/a> are ideal for modern production environments and frequently changing products thanks to their flexibility. The use of driverless AGVs means that individual products can skip handling stations<\/strong>, which are not necessary for transport securing, be it stretch wrapping for robust building products or re-strapping for pallets that are transported individually.<\/p>

AGVs therefore save time and prevent congestion, which often occurs in rigid conveyor lines due to the fact that machines connected in series can process products at different speeds. In addition not all stations have to be in a row or close to each other, as is usual with rigid conveyor technology<\/strong>. This allows companies to optimise the use of available space.<\/p>

The individual stations also work according to requirements: for example, if the strapping has created a sufficiently stable bond, the stretch wrapper uses less film<\/strong>, as this only has to serve to protect the product. When production capacity utilisation is low or high, fewer or more AGV units can be used and the often high maximum capacities of the strapping machines can be fully utilised.<\/p>
