A survey by Deutsche Tamoil GmbH shows that the majority of Germans surveyed consider the forthcoming reusable packaging obligation to be sensible. 76 per cent are prepared to make the extra effort to protect the environment. Almost a quarter of Germans now order something to-go at least once a week.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The The majority of Germans (77 per cent) specifically opt for the take-away option<\/strong> - usually in the morning on the way to work, in the car or during the lunch break. So while the advantages of to go are clear to most survey participants, consumption still has a significant disadvantage: the packaging and the resulting waste<\/strong>. More than half of the Germans (64 per cent) who took part in the HEM survey were also aware of this, often have a guilty conscience when disposing of single-use packaging<\/strong> to have. One in four would therefore like to-go packaging to be more environmentally friendly, for example made from recyclable material.<\/p>

The survey also shows that 76 per cent of respondents are not yet aware of the reusable packaging obligation<\/strong> for delivery services and restaurants from 1 January 2023. Anyone with a sales area of more than 80 square metres and more than five employees is subject to the legal obligation to offer reusable packaging for takeaway.<\/p>

An approach that meets with broad support: 76 per cent of Germans surveyed by HEM consider the legal obligation to reuse to be sensible<\/strong> and are prepared to go to a little extra effort to protect the environment. Only seven per cent of the study participants stated that they would always opt for disposable containers in the long term, as returning reusable containers would be too costly for them.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Reusable solutions with deposit system <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Remedy promises Recup\/Rebowl<\/a>, Germany's largest reusable deposit system. The to-go cups on offer can be used up to 1,000 times, the Bowls can be reused up to 500 times<\/strong> and thus replace disposable packaging waste.<\/p>

\u201eOur task as a leading provider is now to prepare Germany's catering industry for the upcoming mandatory reusable packaging and to equip it in the best possible way. Because only if the reusable system is offered across the board in catering establishments will it be really easy for consumers to combine enjoyment and environmental protection.\u201c<\/p>

For this reason, the petrol station chain HEM to offer the Recup\/Rebowl returnable deposit system at 380 stations with attached Bistro Vital<\/strong>. The nationwide roll-out will begin on 15 October 2022, meaning that in future, hot drinks and tasty snacks can be consumed with a clear conscience and the reusable packaging returned to the nearest serving point.<\/p>

As a lot is bought \u201ato go\u2018, especially at petrol stations, we see it as an extremely important step to offer 100% recyclable reusable options from now on and reduce single-use packaging waste.\u201c<\/p>

When asked where Germans buy takeaway products at least once a month, the petrol station came in second place with 66 percent, behind the bakery (67 percent) and ahead of the supermarket (50 percent). The other places are snack bars\/fast food chains (39 per cent), caf\u00e9s (15 per cent), kiosks (13 per cent), market stalls\/food trucks (12 per cent) and restaurants (9 per cent).<\/p>
