This is shown by the latest figures from the Joint Committee of German Packaging Manufacturers (GADV). In terms of production volume, packaging made of paper, cardboard and paperboard accounted for the largest share, with plastic packaging achieving the highest production value.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f59424f exad-sticky-section-no exad-glass-effect-no elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f59424f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 1\"><div class=\"layoutArea\"><div class=\"column\"><p>Around 19.6 million tonnes of packaging materials were produced in 2021, an increase of 4.8 percent. The <strong>Production value increased significantly by 10.9 per cent to around EUR 35.8 billion in 2021<\/strong>. However, the packaging industry is currently facing completely different challenges. For all packaging industries, the supply of affordable energy is an important prerequisite for being able to continue to produce competitively in Germany. In the case of energy-intensive industries, this is even becoming an existential issue.
