The Forum Rezyklat, an alliance of more than 60 retailers, product and packaging manufacturers, dual systems, waste management and recycling companies as well as representatives from science and politics, has now been honoured with the ECR Sustainability Excellence Award 2022 in D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Plastic recycling and the increased Use of plastic recyclates makes an important contribution to conserving resources<\/strong>. They reduce the need for crude oil, which would otherwise be required for the production of most new plastics. Instead, a granulate is obtained from old packaging as a raw material for new shampoo bottles and the like - the so-called recyclate. The use of this material saves large amounts of energy that would otherwise be consumed in the production of virgin material.<\/p>

According to the VDMA Waste and Recycling Technology Association, every tonne of recycled plastic that is used instead of virgin material currently saves a specific between 1.4 and 3.2 tonnes of CO2 equivalents<\/strong>. The more than 60 members of the joint alliance make a contribution to this Forum Recyclate<\/a>.<\/p>

\u201eForum Rezyklat is breaking new sustainable ground in a strategic alliance with partners from all stages of the packaging value creation cycle,\u201c said the ECR Award jury, praising the alliance's efforts and therefore honouring it with the award as the winner of the ECR Sustainability Excellence Award 2022.<\/strong> The award was presented at a gala organised by GS1 Germany in D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/p>

ECR stands for Efficient Consumer Response<\/strong> and, in the context of the award of the same name, refers to strategic collaboration for better, faster and more cost-effective solutions to fulfil customer needs. GS1 Germany presented the award for the 20th time this year.<\/p>

It proves once again that we are on the right track together and gives us an additional incentive to continue working towards the goal of a sustainable circular economy for packaging.\u201c<\/p>

Retailers, product and packaging manufacturers, dual systems, waste management and recycling companies as well as representatives from science and politics are joining forces in the Forum Rezyklat (Recyclate Forum). with the aim of promoting and sustainably developing the circular economy for packaging.<\/strong> Increasing the recycling rate is important for this. Within this framework, solutions should also be developed that lead to more high-quality recyclates for packaging. The Forum Rezyklat therefore supports the development and use of new technologies to improve the identification, sorting and utilisation of recyclable material.<\/p>

In addition, consumer awareness of the circular economy is promoted, to achieve a more homogeneous separation of recyclable materials.<\/strong> Under the motto \u201eRecycling together, creating value together\u201c, practical and consumer-orientated strategies and solutions for more sustainability in the packaging cycle are developed.<\/p>
