The Fachagentur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe e.V. (FNR) is showcasing new areas of application for bio-based plastics at its stand at K 2022. So far, the areas of application are still limited and better data is needed, especially on the durability of the plastics.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Bio-based plastics play an important role on the road to a sustainable bioeconomy. They make it possible to property profiles of these materials without consuming fossil resources and emitting climate-damaging CO2\u00a0<\/sub>to emit<\/strong>. Even though a large number of different bio-based plastics are already on the market, their use is limited. range of applications is currently still limited to a few areas such as packaging<\/strong> and short-lived, low-tech products.<\/p>

FNR<\/a> shows approaches to Opening up new areas of application for bio-based plastics<\/strong>. The aim is to improve the data available on bio-based plastics, particularly with regard to durability under various influencing factors, but also on bio-based fillers and additives. Initial results on the Use of wood fibre reinforced plastics (WPC) in industrial conveyor systems<\/strong> will be presented, as will the potential of polylactide as an optical material.<\/p>

The solutions exhibited at the trade fair originate from research projects supported by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL) with funds from the Renewable Resources funding programme. The \u201eFuture Network for Bio-based Polymers - BioFoN\u201c will be a guest at the FNR stand and will be presenting itself and its work.<\/p>
