K 2022 opened its doors in D\u00fcsseldorf today. More than 3,000 companies from 60 nations are exhibiting at the leading trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry this year. The trade fair is also celebrating its 70th anniversary and is focusing on the hot topics of the circular economy, climate protection and digitalisation.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

From 19 to 26 October, visitors to D\u00fcsseldorf can Innovations for the efficient and responsible use of plastic<\/strong> experience. The numerous exhibitors' offerings range from machinery and equipment to raw materials and auxiliary materials. Once again this year, the majority of suppliers come from Europe, including Germany, Italy, Austria, Turkey, the Netherlands, Switzerland and France. However, there are also exhibitors from the USA and an increasing number from Asia.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201eK 2022 is our first major trade fair since the pandemic. With 179,000 m\u00b2 of net exhibition space, our exhibition centre is fully booked. K in D\u00fcsseldorf is not only the industry's performance barometer and its global marketplace for innovations, but also provides sustainable economic impetus. Especially now after the pandemic-related changes and in a difficult global economic situation, it will provide orientation.\u201c<\/p>

At the last K three years ago, exhibitors unanimously emphasised the need for functioning and closed loops along the entire recycling chain. The K 2022<\/a> demonstrates that the industry is taking responsibility and Plastics will not be the problem in the future, but rather part of the solution<\/strong>.<\/p>

Without plastics, it will not be possible to treat the global climate with care. Plastics enable lightweight construction, electromobility and the use of wind and solar energy. The circular economy is existential, while digitalisation is an indispensable enabler in terms of transparency and resource efficiency. All three Key topics will also be covered in the specials at K 2022<\/strong> take up a lot of space.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201ePolymer materials are indispensable and ubiquitous in almost all areas of our modern world. Global plastics production in 2021 was around 390.7 million tonnes, with 21 million tonnes produced in Germany alone in 2021. However, the entire industry is facing a variety of challenges, such as supply chain issues and skyrocketing energy prices. There is an enormous need for face-to-face dialogue at K 2022 on a global level, especially as the plastics industry is in the midst of a transformation process towards a circular economy.\u201c<\/p>

The special show Plastics shape the future in Hall 6 at K 2022 shows how crucial plastics are for a sustainable future. It illustrates the fascinating developments that are already taking place today and that the visions for tomorrow are already on the way to being realised. The Special show comprises seven themed days - with discussions on innovative technologies, keynote speeches, entertaining demonstrations of lighthouse projects<\/strong> and exciting experimental shows. Plastics shape the future addresses economic, ecological and socio-political aspects in equal measure and presents solutions to problems facing the plastics industry. The special show is a project of the German plastics industry under the leadership of plasticsEurope Deutschland e. V. and Messe D\u00fcsseldorf.<\/p>

The Start-Up Zone celebrates its premiere at this year's K<\/strong>. Start-up companies are young, creative, flexible, future-oriented and characterised in particular by innovative solutions to problems. The Science Campus is firmly established. This year, too, everything will revolve around the direct dialogue between research and industry<\/strong>. There will be 25 exhibitors presenting exciting innovations and research results for the plastics and rubber industry. These include renowned universities, colleges and scientific institutes, such as various Fraunhofer Institutes, the Technical University of Dresden, Tomas Bata University Zlin, Czech Republic, and Wageningen University & Research, Netherlands.<\/p>
