The Austrian manufacturer of high-performance extrusion systems, SML, together with its partners Sukano AG and Kiefel Packaging B.V., has developed a cup made of C-PET light that combines transparency and recyclability as well as suitability for thermoformed hot-fill or microwaveable products.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Other advantages of the new solution include short cycle times during thermoforming and high rigidity. The newly developed C-PET light can therefore be a sensible option for manufacturers looking for a Economical and easy to recycle alternative to PP and PS<\/strong> search.<\/p>

Compared to other coloured PET or PP and PS products, the recycling process for C-PET light is much simpler. C-PET light films can be easily recycled in existing plants. together with other post-consumer or post-industrial PET materials<\/strong> can be reprocessed.<\/p>

In general, C-PET is temperature-resistant up to 220 \u00b0C. However, this is not necessary for many applications and limits the performance in thermoforming. In contrast C-PET light developed for a maximum temperature of 100 \u00b0C<\/strong>. It enables the production of transparent thermoformed products for hot-fill applications up to 100 \u00b0C at comparable production volumes to conventional A-PET processes. In particular the shorter cycle times for deep drawing<\/strong> represent an economic advantage over conventional C-PET.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

All three project partners contributed their specific expertise and in-depth experience in their respective fields, to improve every single step in all processes<\/strong>. The main technical challenges were to find the optimum additive dosage, to adapt the formulations and process technology for film production and to find the right parameters for the thermoforming process.<\/p>
