The robotics company Omron has been honoured with the METI Award from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry for its LD and HD series. The manufacturer's transport robots can contribute to the automation of intralogistics.<\/strong><\/p>

The mobile robots in the LD and HD series from Omron<\/a> have now received the METI Award from the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI), which was presented as part of the 10th Robotic Award programme. This initiative recognises outstanding robots, components and software. The aim is to promote the development of robot technologies and the use of robots in Japan. The productive transport platform, safety and user-friendliness of Omron's LD\/HD series mobile robots were particularly emphasised in this regard.<\/strong> The solutions would contribute to the further development of the global manufacturing industry and significantly support future projects in the industrial environment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The mobile robots can be used to form fleets of several autonomous mobile robots (AMRs). The system combines various technologies. One example is Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM), which makes it possible to create maps of unknown environments while simultaneously tracking the location and avoiding obstacles.<\/strong> In cooperation with system integrators, such transport platforms can help to automate many areas and tackle social problems in the future.<\/p>

As more and more companies are confronted with rapid social changes, tasks in the area of material transport must be increasingly automated<\/strong>. One example: High-mix-low-volume, i.e. a high degree of mixing with low quantities, is just as much a part of the changes that need to be addressed as the growing shortage of skilled labour and strict safety and hygiene requirements.<\/p>

Earlier generations of transport robots often had to overcome challenges and be adapted before they could be used in a larger environment. However, according to the manufacturer, the LD\/HD series is designed so that it can be used flexibly without changing the production environment.<\/strong> Multiple Omron mobile robots can work together in a fleet to increase productivity and can operate safely between human workers.<\/p>
