Aluminium production in Germany fell once again in the last quarter of 2022. This is shown by the latest figures from Aluminium Deutschland. Overall, aluminium production fell dramatically by 11 percent in 2022.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

After a comparatively moderate development over the course of the year until September, the processing aluminium semis segment suffered a significant setback in the final quarter of last year<\/strong>. The production volume fell by 14% to just under 557,000 tonnes. This means that around 2.6 million tonnes were produced in 2022 (-4%). Manufacturers of rolled (-4 per cent) and extruded products (-3 per cent) recorded roughly equal declines.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201eIn the past quarter, production across all sectors fell even more sharply than before. The smelters in particular have seen a real slump. Unfortunately, we cannot currently say that the worst is behind us. Companies\u201c order books are still clearly in the red. We do not expect a recovery until the second or third quarter at the earliest. Nevertheless, the important transformation material aluminium has a future in Germany - but we need the right political framework conditions for this.\"<\/p>

From a recent study by AD<\/a> survey conducted among members shows that the Supply and price situation on the energy markets slightly improved for two thirds of companies compared to three months ago<\/strong> However, 86 per cent currently rate the possibility of concluding long-term gas and electricity contracts as not good. The The majority do not consider the German government's energy price brakes to be suitable instruments<\/strong>, that help companies in their current situation. This is another reason why many companies will not (be able to) utilise them.<\/p>

\u201eThe current situation does not provide the planning security that we urgently need to invest in the decarbonisation of our industry. Industry in Germany and Europe is already at an enormous competitive disadvantage in international comparison due to high energy prices. In addition, the hurdles for utilising the energy price brakes to a sufficient extent are too high and too complex. Access must be made easier as a matter of urgency.\u201c<\/p>
