The e-commerce sector continues to boom, which benefits manufacturers of corresponding packaging solutions. For sensitive goods, shipping bags with air cushioning are often used, but these are frequently made from paper and plastic. In cooperation with a French mailing bag manufacturer, Raja is now presenting a solution that consists entirely of paper.<\/strong><\/p>

The paper manufacturer Raja<\/a> will be offering 100 per cent paper bubble envelopes and embossed envelopes from February 2023. This packaging can be recycled and is just as robust as its plastic or dual-material counterparts (paper with plastic film). Raja has been the first company to offer them in France since February 2023 and will be offering them throughout Europe from March.<\/strong><\/p>

The envelopes produced by Cepap La Couronne in the French department of Charente are a plastic-free alternative to two widely used solutions in the field of e-commerce packaging<\/strong> represent: Bubble bags, which enable items to be shipped safely, and plastic bubble bags, which protect products inside parcels.<\/p>

Production already started in January 2022<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The design was created by Raja and one of its long-standing partners, Cepap La Couronne, a French manufacturer and printer of envelopes and mailing bags. The 100-year-old company with 152 employees and headquarters near Angoul\u00eame is confronted with a shrinking traditional market.<\/strong> In fact, the production of transshipments in Europe fell from 90 billion to 40 billion between 2010 and 2021.<\/p>

Cepap La Couronne has invested 1.5 million euros in the production of bubble envelopes and embossed envelopes. a new type of machine, 38 metres long and four metres wide <\/strong>for which it also holds the patent. Production began in January 2022.<\/p>

\u201eAfter twelve months of research and development, we are starting production of the first range of bubble bags in Europe. Our new production line will enable us to drive forward our diversification in the packaging sector<\/strong>\u201e, says Nicolas Baudart, CEO of Cepap La Couronne.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

A paper as strong as plastic<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In a shipping test carried out by Cepap La Couronne and Raja, sensitive products such as Christmas baubles, make-up palettes and spirits arrived intact thanks to their protective packaging. The new paper envelopes are suitable for shipping all types of products in all sectors of activity, for example e-commerce, industry and cultural goods.<\/strong> They are made from 100 and 120 g\/m\u00b2 pure brown kraft paper and are PEFC-certified (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification Schemes). According to the company, the strength of 918 kilopascals makes the kraft paper one of the most robust on the market.<\/p>
