The German Packaging Congress in Berlin at the end of March is one of the most important events in the industry. So it's no wonder that numerous exciting speakers have announced their attendance. Many of the presentations will focus on government requirements and regulations.<\/strong><\/p>

What is coming from Brussels and Berlin? And which strategies will work after the \u201eturnaround\u201c? When managers, company leaders and decision-makers from the entire packaging value chain come together on 30 and 31 March 2023 for the 18th German Packaging Congress<\/a> meet in Berlin, move VUCA and the regulatory activities of national and European regulators<\/strong> in the focus. The German Packaging Institute e. V.<\/a> (dvi) has invited representatives from industry, brands and politics to speak at the summit, which is once again being held as a face-to-face event in Berlin this year.<\/p>

The (ongoing) crises of recent years have also left their mark on the packaging industry. Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity (VUCA)<\/strong> are fundamentally shaping the industry. At the same time, companies are facing increasing pressure and ever stricter requirements from national and European regulators.<\/p>

From Berlin to Brussels<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

On the political side Michael Kellner<\/strong>, Member of the Bundestag, Federal Government Commissioner for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises<\/strong> and Parliamentary State Secretary to the Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection<\/strong> will address the current concerns of the packaging industry in his keynote speech and talk about the transformation of the packaging industry from the government's perspective.<\/p>

Dr Jan-Niclas Gesenhues<\/strong>, Member of the Bundestag, Environmental policy spokesman for the Alliance 90\/The Greens parliamentary group in the Bundestag<\/strong> and Head of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection Working Group<\/strong> of his party will take a stand in a panel discussion on the topic of recycling and the circular economy.<\/p>

Congress participants will receive an overview of regulatory activities at European level from Francesca Stevens<\/strong>, Managing Director of the European Organisation for Packaging and the Environment<\/strong> (EUROPEN).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

As part of the VUCA focus topic, the German Packaging Congress will examine the question, how the competitiveness of energy-intensive companies in Germany can be maintained<\/strong> and how brands can survive the crisis and emerge stronger from it. \u201eWe are looking forward to welcoming top decision-makers from L'Or\u00e9al, Beiersdorf, the Otto Group, SCHOTT AG, thyssenkrupp Rasselstein, the Mibelle Group, Procter & Gamble, Der Gr\u00fcne Punkt and Berndt+Partner,\u201c Kim Cheng looks ahead. At the end of the first day of the congress Hans-Lothar Domr\u00f6se, General and former NATO commander.<\/strong> about the Global power shift<\/strong> and examine the question of whether the Consequences of the war in Ukraine<\/strong> and the rise of protectionism and autocracies will lead to the end of change through trade.<\/p>

On the second day of the congress, the dvi offers a series of workshops in which selected aspects of the congress in depth<\/strong> will be organised. Topics include software as a driver for the circular economy, success factors in collaboration between companies and start-ups, ways out of fossil energy in the course of decarbonisation, AI-supported optimisation of the recycling of plastic packaging and more.<\/p>
