SIG and the SIG Way Beyond Good Foundation are launching an initiative in Indonesia to increase packaging recycling. The aim of the Recycling for Good programme is to create greater awareness of environmentally friendly waste disposal of recyclable packaging in the country.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Waste pollution is one of the biggest problems for our environment. With more than 5 million tonnes, Indonesia is the world's second largest producer of plastic waste<\/strong>. Around 3 million tonnes of this is disposed of in the country's waters. One of the main reasons for this is that on many of the small islands no waste collection and no municipal disposal system for household and other waste<\/strong> exists. Lacking knowledge of the dangers involved, people dump their waste on rubbish tips, burn it or dispose of it in the sea.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

With the Recycle for Good programme SIG<\/a> and the SIG Way Beyond Good Foundation Changing people's behaviour and promoting mindful use of natural resources<\/strong>. The programme aims to encourage the population to hand in recyclable waste such as drinks cartons, glass, plastic or cooking oil at a collection point and thus return it to the cycle. As In return, they receive food vouchers or vouchers<\/strong> for other goods and services that they can exchange with Recycle for Good partners. The materials are sorted on site and recycled by a recycling partner.<\/p>

With the experience of SO+MA, a Brazilian start-up that has been working with SIG since 2018 and promotes the circular economy through a reward system, the foundation developed its global Recycle for Good programme<\/strong>. Indonesia will be the first country in Southeast Asia to launch the programme on 3 March 2023 at Cibubur Junction in East Jakarta, where a Recycle for Good Drop Point is located. The programme is to be replicated at a later date.<\/p>

\u201eWe are very excited to launch Recycle for Good in Southeast Asia. Indonesia is one of the countries in the region that has taken action to tackle environmental issues and SIG is also involved with Recycle for Good. We hope to change the behaviour of the Indonesian people by collecting their waste and bringing it to the Recycle for Good collection point for recycling.\u201c<\/p>
