An initiative by various partners from the value chain was honoured with the Packaging Innovation Award. The project by Heinz and Tesco to recycle soft plastic was honoured with the Silver Award. Berry Global, Plastic Energy and Sabic were also involved.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The successful joint project between Heinz and Tesco<\/a> with Berry Global<\/a> and the recycling technology experts Plastic Energy and Sabic<\/a> for the development of Heinz Beanz Snap Pots, which 39 per cent made from recycled plastic<\/strong> was honoured with a Silver Award at the global Packaging Innovation Awards.<\/p>

The award recognises how the project Sustainability of Heinz Snap Pots has improved<\/strong> while retaining what makes them so popular with consumers: the handy, microwaveable format and the preservation of freshness. Heinz Snap Pots manufactured by Berry Global are made from 39 per cent ISCC PLUS certified recycled soft plastic (on a mass balance basis). Soft plastic is used by the consumers to Tesco stores and collected by them to be converted into an optimal oil feedstock by Plastic Energy.<\/strong> to become. Sabic combines this with new material to obtain an alternative raw material for the production of recycled plastic granulate that is approved for contact with food.<\/p>

These are sent to an ISCC-certified Berry Global site, where they are processed into new Heinz Beanz Snap Pots. Previously, under the leadership of Sabic, Berry Global and KraftHeinz extensive tests are carried out to select the right polymer compositions<\/strong>that fulfil the demanding technical requirements. After use, Heinz Snap Pots can be recycled via street collection.<\/p>
