Siko GmbH's company history began 60 years ago with handwheels with positioning indicators. Today, the company is known for its angle and length measuring systems and offers innovative sensor and positioning systems for industry and mechanical engineering.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

It all began with the decision of company founder G\u00fcnther Wandres to become self-employed, which he made in 1963 when he sold the drive technology company that he had previously managed. He took over a small product group from the previous company, Handwheels with position indicators, which are primarily used for speed control on continuously variable transmissions.<\/strong> were established. In addition, design orders were carried out and an industrial agency for geared motors was taken over, which established the name Siko: S\u00fcddeutsches Industrie Kontor Dr. Ing.<\/p>

Production grew and soon required more space, which was realised in 1964 with additional production rooms in Unteribental. In 1971, the company finally moved to a new production site in neighbouring Buchenbach.<\/p>

From the mid-1970s, the product portfolio continued to develop: following the success of the mechanical position indicators, the Digital position indicators<\/strong> which made it possible for the first time to read to the nearest tenth of a millimetre. In addition, the company increasingly focussed on Development of electronic measuring systems for displacement and angle measurement<\/strong>, for example, with the first transmission potentiometers at the end of the 1970s or the first optoelectronic hollow shaft encoder in 1982.<\/p>

At the beginning of the 1990s, under the aegis of the new managing director Horst Wandres, the youngest son of the Siko founder, linear measuring systems were added to the product portfolio. In addition to draw-wire displacement transducers, it was primarily Linear measuring systems with a magnetic measuring principle, which from then on became the segment with the highest sales.<\/strong> advanced. Horst Wandres received support in 1996 when his sister Ursula Wandres joined the company as HR manager and played a key role in shaping the family character of the company.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The introduction of the positioning drives product division in 2001 marked the beginning of Siko<\/a> the age of automation. The compact drives for automated axle adjustment thus paved the way for Industry 4.0-compatible sensor and positioning systems<\/strong>. The expansion of technical expertise was accompanied by market expansion. The subsidiary founded in the USA in 1980 was followed by another subsidiary in Italy in 2001 and a subsidiary in Shanghai in 2005 due to the industry-wide relocation of European production facilities to Asia. In 2008, the subsidiary in Switzerland was added, which is responsible for the development and production of MagLine encoder systems. Thanks to the successful development of the Chinese market, a further sales office was founded in Singapore in 2013 to mark the company's 50th anniversary.<\/p>

Siko now has three business divisions and an additional German production and administration site in Bad Krozingen, making it fit for the future. In the \u201eMobile Automation\u201c division, the company focuses on robust sensors that are suitable for the harsh operating conditions of mobile machines. \u201eChangeover Solutions\u201c are Positioning systems for mechanical engineering, which are primarily in demand in the packaging, pharmaceutical and woodworking industries.<\/strong> are. \u201eMagLine Motorfeedback\u201c offers encoders for drive technology such as linear motors and torque motors as well as for use in robotic applications such as cobots.<\/p>

Sven Wischnewski, who has been Managing Director of Siko GmbH since 2014, is largely responsible for setting the course for the company in recent years. The Wandres family is now active in the background as shareholders, but is no longer involved in the operational business.\u00a0<\/p>
