It shows <strong>Good barrier properties against liquids, oils, greases and mineral oil <\/strong>and good temperature resistance in boiling water up to 100 C. ecovio is also characterised by a <strong>Exceptional adhesion to numerous paper and cardboard substrates<\/strong> out. The new grade is therefore suitable for paper-based solutions such as cups and other containers for dairy products (including frozen products), wrapping paper for sandwiches and muesli bars, trays for confectionery and snacks as well as to-go cups for hot and cold drinks or soups.<\/p><p>After use, food packaging coated with ecovio 70 PS14H6 can be either <strong>in home garden compost or in industrial composting plants<\/strong> composted in accordance with national regulations. It enables the coating of paper and cardboard for food packaging,<strong> to achieve additional barrier properties by means of single or multi-layer extrusion without the use of adhesives.<\/strong> The coating can be applied at a coating speed comparable to that of polyethylene (PE). The polymer does not stick to the chill roller and is characterised by excellent sealing and printing properties. Depending on the application and equipment, layer weights similar to PE can be achieved, so that <strong>Very thin coatings can also be realised<\/strong> are.<\/p><blockquote><p>\u201eWith certification for both home and industrial composting, we are expanding the recycling options for paper-based packaging with our new ecovio. There is a major trend in society away from plastic packaging towards paper packaging, which is also being driven by corresponding legislation in some countries. However, paper packaging per se is unsuitable for many foods, especially for liquid or fatty ingredients. We offer <strong>a stable and at the same time sustainable packaging solution for hot, cold or frozen food,<\/strong> that can withstand temperatures from -40 to +100 \u00b0C. This means that ecovio 70 PS14H6 combines outstanding technical performance with the important advantage of compostability in home compost and contributes to the organic recycling of food waste.\u201c<\/p><p><strong>Michael Bernhard Schick <\/strong>from Global Marketing Biopolymers at BASF<\/p><\/blockquote><p>The new biopolymer is<strong> with a biobased content of between 70 and 80 per cent<\/strong> according to ASTM D 6866.
