Cologne-based plastics specialist igus wants to promote a sustainable plastics economy with its \u201eChainge\u201c recycling platform. The company has now invested in the Hamburg-based start-up cirplus. Both companies are pursuing the shared vision of closing the plastics loop and initiating a revolution in the recycling trade for technical and standard thermoplastics.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Since 2019, igus has made it possible for customers to recycle used energy chains regardless of the manufacturer. In October 2022, the \u201eChainge\u201c online platform was created to easy digital access to recycling<\/strong> to offer. The marketplace can now also be used to quickly and easily transfer previously unconsidered technical plastics to the circular economy. Processing companies also have the opportunity, purchase recycled plastics with guaranteed quality standards<\/strong>. While igus has already enjoyed success in the digital trade of engineering plastics, cirplus is primarily active in the markets for standard thermoplastics. The Hamburg-based start-up offers disposal companies, recyclers and product manufacturers a digital marketplace through which they can buy standardised recyclates in a secure, traceable and cost-efficient way<\/strong> - worldwide. The team of technology and digital experts thus promotes the networking of the plastics and recycling industries. In addition, cirplus has developed the DIN SPEC 91446 and DIN SPEC 91481 standards. initiated as the world's first standards for high-quality plastics recycling<\/strong>.<\/p>

It was the motivation, through the combination of digitalisation and standardisation<\/strong> to establish reliable and transparent supply chains for plastic recyclates. DIN SPEC 91446 was also awarded the DIN Prize 2022 by the German Institute for Standardisation e.V. in the categories of climate protection and innovation.
