Aldi is taking a further step to increase the proportion of recycled materials in its product packaging: The Tandil 3-in-1 box is the first product packaging to consist almost entirely of recycled plastic from packaging waste. <\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

As part of the \u201c Packaging mission<\/a>\u201c, Aldi Nord and Aldi S\u00fcd are pursuing many paths, to make the packaging of its own-brand products more environmentally friendly.<\/strong> Wherever packaging cannot be completely dispensed with, discounters are focusing on saving packaging material, increasing recyclability, reducing the use of new plastic and the targeted use of recycled material.<\/p>

Now, for the first time, recycled plastic from the Yellow Bag or Yellow Bin has been used in the detergent packaging for Tandil 3-in-1 Active Caps and Colour Caps. The new packaging boxes will gradually be available in numerous shops from the middle of the year and consist of 92 per cent recycled polypropylene<\/strong> (the remaining eight per cent are fillers\/additives, which are necessary to stabilise and process the material). Based on the sales volume of Aldi Nord and Aldi S\u00fcd in 2022, this results in an annual saving of around 60 tonnes of new plastic.<\/strong><\/p>

\u201eIn order to achieve packaging with the leanest possible recycling process, the Tandil Box will no longer be produced in different colours, but in a uniform grey to avoid the time-consuming colour sorting. In future, the differentiation between heavy-duty detergent and colour detergent will be made solely via the label.\u201c<\/p>

The packaging is the result of Aldi's strategic partnership with the Interseroh+ dual system of the recycling service provider Interzero. The aim of this recycling alliance is to, Close material cycles by accessing secondary raw materials<\/strong>, to ensure a genuine circular economy in the future. The cooperation is also an important part of the joint packaging mission of the two discounters.<\/p>

In addition to the goal of reducing the amount of material used in own-brand packaging by 30 per cent by 2025, all own-brand plastic packaging is to be made from an average of At least 30 per cent recycled materials<\/strong> exist.<\/p>
