Sch\u00fctz presented its laser drum for the first time at interpack. It is characterised by comprehensive corrosion protection and a new production process. The drum is fully galvanised and was tested as a prototype in a development project.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The new laser barrel connects Contactor<\/a> quality material with modern production technology. The company uses Hot-dip galvanised sheet steel on both sides directly from the coil<\/strong> for the production of steel drums. The raw material is immersed in a molten zinc bath prior to coil winding and receives an all-round high-quality and evenly distributed zinc coating through galvanisation. The Drum body is manufactured using a laser welding process<\/strong>, by butt-welding the sheet metal. The result is a high-quality, smooth and clean weld seam.<\/p>

The laser drum was trialled as a prototype in a development project and further developed by Sch\u00fctz to series maturity for the first time with corresponding investments. Once the lid and base have been fitted, it is protected against corrosion both inside and out and is ready for immediate despatch. For demanding and sensitive filling products, which are often filled into conventionally galvanised or internally painted drums, the new drum type is an alternative<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>

Sch\u00fctz produces the laser drum in various versions: as a bung drum with a volume of 216.5 litres and as a lidded drum with a volume of 213 litres, alternatively also as a 210-litre necked-in version suitable for ISO containers. In addition, the new product is also available for particularly demanding filling goods as a Combination drum with a plastic inner container that offers optimised corrosion protection, high-quality processing and an improved environmental footprint.<\/strong> convinced.<\/p>

The company also offers the lidded drum with a plastic inliner, which lines the drum like a second skin and thus enables the transport of sensitive liquid and solid filling products. Complete removal of the filling products and utilisation of the agitators and suction pumps are possible. The Separating the steel and plastic material fractions reduces disposal costs and enables simple reconditioning of the steel drum<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/p>

As the material used is already corrosion-protected and pure, quality risks are minimised right at the start of production. The immediate corrosion protection eliminates the need for post-treatment. In addition, the associated internal transport processes are avoided. The Production process saves time, costs and energy<\/strong>. Thanks to the conservation of resources, it has a positive impact on the environmental balance. Furthermore, Sch\u00fctz can store large quantities of already hot-dip galvanised coils for the production of laser drums. This increases delivery flexibility and security of supply compared to subsequently galvanised drums, which take up considerably more space when stored.<\/p>
