The start-up Papair has now launched the PapairWrap bubble wrap made from 100 per cent paper onto the market. With an innovative process for manufacturing the sustainable packaging material, production has started at the company's own production site in Rethem an der Aller.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

With PapairWrap, the team led by founders Christopher Feist, Fabian Solf and Steven Widdel has created a new type of wrap. Alternative to conventional packaging materials.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>

The start of production was planned for March 2022, but the pandemic and global political events repeatedly delayed the delivery of technology and components for the plant. After an extensive commissioning phase at the mechanical engineering company<\/strong> in Bavaria, things are finally getting underway at the Rethem site.<\/p>

The demand for sustainable packaging alternatives is high and the need is there. With the PapairWrap from the first system initially supplied over 150 customers from various industries<\/strong>. At the same time, pilot projects are being carried out with selected customers to evaluate the use of PapairWrap and incorporate the results into further development.<\/p>

\"We are initially starting with our pilot plant. The second, larger plant is planned for the end of this year in order to fulfil the increasing demand and to be able to offer two different product widths.\"<\/p>

The founders of Papair<\/a> have been campaigning for greater sustainability in the packaging industry together with their now 14-strong team since 2020. The start of production at PapairWrap is an important milestone, but the team and founders are already much further ahead in their thinking. Founded in 2020, the start-up has set itself the goal of avoiding plastic waste and launching a packaging material on the market with its bubble wrap made of paper, that combines safety, cost efficiency and sustainability.<\/strong> The success proves the team and its vision right. In December 2022, they were able to the starter prize<\/strong>a competition organised by the joint initiative of the Lower Saxony Ministry of Economics and Culture and the Lower Saxony Investment and Development Bank in the Newcomer\/Scale-up category. They have been part of the Amazon Sustainability Accelerator since 2023<\/strong> and also made it to the final of the Lower Saxony Innovation Award and the international Sustainable Packaging Awards.<\/p>
