Chep has relaunched its Q+ display quarter pallet. Both the rollable and static versions are now made entirely from post-consumer plastic waste.<\/strong> <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Extensive tests carried out at the Fraunhofer Institute in Germany and at the Chep Innovation Centre in Orlando have confirmed the durability and stability of the new Q+ quarter pallet. More than two years of research and development<\/strong>which involved several design iterations, led to the redesign of the product.<\/p>

The Q+ display quarter pallet has a circular design and consists of 100 per cent from post-consumer plastic waste<\/strong> and is EUCertiPlast<\/a>-certified in order to validate the process for receiving the upcycled plastic. Developed in Germany over 30 years ago, the quarter pallet was born out of a market need to replace single-use wooden quarter pallets. Retailers were looking for a solution to reduce wood waste and CO2 emissions while increasing efficiency in packaging, transport and in-store operations. Chep worked with retailers, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) brands and industry partners,<\/strong> to develop the first reusable plastic display pallet. Since its introduction in Germany in 1992, the quarter pallet has become established in the most important EU countries and in the UK. Today it is accepted by all major European retailers.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>

The redesign of the Q+ display quarter range supports Chep's 2025 target, 30 per cent upcycled materials<\/strong> into new products. Q+ is characterised not only by sustainability, but also by features such as Blue Click. The patented system for connecting cardboard displays reduces the time required for co-packing, increases stability and minimises product damage when already filled cardboard displays are transported to the salesroom.<\/p>

To date, CHEP has produced one million Q+ quarter pallets and 2,250 tonnes of plastic waste recycled as a result<\/strong>. By maintaining a strictly controlled chain of custody for the post-consumer plastic it purchases, Chep guarantees the integrity and sustainability of its materials.<\/p>

The relaunch of the Q+ display quarter range makes both the the rollable version (new edition in 2020) and the static version<\/strong> The new Chep product has become the leading product in the transformation of the Chep product range for the FMCG sector: both are now made from 100 per cent post-consumer plastic waste.<\/p>
