At the largest European exhibition for packaging, the German Packaging Award<\/a>, this year 34 innovations from England, Germany, the Netherlands and Austria<\/strong> convince. The cross-material competition is organised by the German Packaging Institute<\/a>, which is particularly pleased about the High quality, diversity and range of submissions<\/strong> pleased.<\/p>

The award ceremony will take place on 13 September 2023 in Berlin. \u201eThe challenges that packaging has to face have changed in recent decades. Our products have to meet more and more expectations and requirements and find new solutions. What has not changed is the central importance of packaging for our well-being, for our health and for supplying people and companies with all the goods they need on a daily basis. It is therefore all the more important that our industry does not let up in mastering its important task with outstanding innovative work, despite all the crises and challenges. The numerous entries for the German Packaging Award 2023 and the award-winning solutions are once again emphatic proof of this.\u201c<\/p>

The dvi invites the industry to the award ceremony together with its premium partner Specialist pack<\/a> to the Meistersaal in Berlin. In addition to the presentation of the packaging awards, the Gold Award will be at the centre of the event. According to the dvi, the jury has once again this year A few innovations also honoured with the exclusive Gold Award<\/strong>. \u201eThere are simply innovations that stand out even from the illustrious circle of packaging award winners. We will not reveal who will be honoured with this top award until the Award ceremony on 13 September<\/strong> known,\u201c informs Cheng.<\/p>

The packaging for the Tandil 3in1 Active Caps and Colour Caps consists almost entirely of recycled plastic from the Yellow Bag and Yellow Bin. Ali S\u00fcd was honoured for this in the Material category.<\/strong><\/p>

\u201eWe are working hard to make the packaging of our own brands more environmentally friendly and are also focussing on the use of recycled materials. The TANDIL 3-in-1 caps are a good example of how the material cycle can be closed. We are delighted that we have now been honoured with the German Packaging Award for this innovative packaging solution.<\/p>

The students from M\u00fcnster University of Applied Sciences won over the jury with a box that can be used as a sanding block and contains a roll of sandpaper. The simple handling of the packaging solution was particularly impressive.<\/strong><\/p>

Under the name SandKit was developed in the seminar Sustainable Packaging Concepts.<\/strong> products were submitted. The solution was developed by Sarah Drauschke, Maria Paula Vargas and Margo Rindle. The 21 students had eight weeks to complete their projects. They first had to deal with the classic packaging aspects - for example logistics, product protection and communication - and also analyse existing packaging problems in order to develop sustainable packaging concepts in seven teams on this basis<\/strong>. In particular, the aim was to reduce the amount of plastic in the packaging solutions and at the same time design added value to make the packaging or parts of it more meaningful overall.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Schoepe Display impressed the jury with its multifunctional box for Thomas Henry. It can be flexibly equipped with different inserts and offers a high level of protection.<\/strong><\/p>

A picker technology based on linear motors ensures gentle handling when scoring Syntegon. The technology also makes it possible to reduce the space required from the infeed conveyor to the packaging machine.<\/strong><\/p>

Despite the compact arrangement, there is a high degree of variability in terms of formats, pack styles and line layouts. \u201eOur Intelligent Direct Handling System, or IDH for short, enables a high degree of pack style flexibility as well as a particularly Gentle product handling that minimises food loss<\/strong>\u201c, says Daniel Bossel, Product Manager at Syntegon.<\/p>

The new pick-and-place technology is also the key to IDH's flexibility: depending on product volumes, manufacturers can integrate up to 40 pickers with a maximum output of up to 1250 products per minute.<\/strong> achieve. The system uses these to group and load biscuits in four different formats - slug and stack packs in trays or tubular bags. Mondi won over the jury in the material substitution category with its Protector Bag ExpandForm. The packaging replaces plastic solutions and packs mattresses in recyclable paper bags.<\/strong><\/p>

The Protector Bag ExpandForm was developed in collaboration with Megaflex foam. The innovative packaging not only contributes to reduction of plastic waste, but also ensures product protection and easy handling<\/strong> during transport and storage of rolled mattresses. Their design and strength ensure secure packaging that retains its shape. Megaflex plans to switch its entire range of mattress roll packaging to paper packaging by the end of 2023.<\/p>
