In future, Riese & M\u00fcller will use reusable packaging for shipping e-bikes and small parts. The reusable packaging for bicycles was developed and produced with the German manufacturer circular logistics. In September, the reusable packaging for e-bikes will initially be tested with selected specialist retailers. The first step will then be up to 60 per cent of e-bike packaging and up to 70 per cent of packaging in small parts shipping to be reusable packaging by the beginning of 2024<\/strong> converted. Together with its specialist dealers, Riese & M\u00fcller is thus reducing the amount of waste generated in the retail sector by 905 tonnes of cardboard per year.<\/p>

The reusable packaging for Riese & M\u00fcller e-bikes is the BikeBox from circular logistics, which was co-developed by Riese & M\u00fcller. It consists of 100 per cent made of the particularly durable, resistant and easily recyclable material polypropylene and can be reused up to 30 times.<\/strong> can be used. Compared to conventional packaging, this saves around 80 per cent CO2<\/sub>\u00a0saved.\u00a0<\/sub>The reusable BikeBoxes have the same dimensions as the previous cardboard boxes and are Folds up quickly and easily after removal of the e-bikes<\/strong> and returned via the usual transport routes.<\/p>

In this way, the resulting Waste volume reduced by 95 per cent<\/strong>. This corresponds to around 880 tonnes of cardboard packaging per year. The new packaging can be used throughout Europe, including Switzerland. In future, reusable packaging will also be used for shipping small parts. The packaging is foldable and will be returned bundled by the specialist retailers. The new packaging consists of 60 per cent recycled material and can be reused up to 20 times.<\/strong> can be realised. This will save 25 tonnes of cardboard per year. The reusable boxes are closed with a Velcro fastener<\/strong>, The use of additional adhesive tape is not necessary.<\/p>
