Berry Global, in collaboration with its customer, French water treatment specialist Ocedis, has introduced a closed-loop system for the supply of Berry Optimum's 20-litre stackable containers made from recycled polyethylene (rPE).<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The containers for the pH Minus Liquide from Ocedis are manufactured at the BMS Moirans Berry plant in France<\/strong> and delivered to the Ocedis plant in Tr\u00e9voux. After filling, they are distributed to customers and the empty containers are collected and returned to Ocedis at the same time.<\/p>

The containers are then transported to a recycling partner, where they are washed, shredded, ground and converted back into rPE granulate<\/strong> which is sent back to Berry Moirans to be used for the production of new Optimum containers for Ocedis.<\/p>

Thanks to Berry Moirans' technical expertise, the rPE containers have the same performance characteristics in terms of durability and functionality as those made from virgin polymer. As a result, the containers have UN certification for the safe handling of dangerous goods<\/strong> received.<\/p>

\u201eThis circular system is an ideal example of how plastics can play an important role in the circular economy and how effective collaboration can bring about positive environmental change. The UN certification of the containers is a particular success. Just as importantly, the project emphasises the feasibility of circular systems and we will be seeking similar partnerships with other customers in the near future.\u201c<\/p>

The Optimum container has Interlocking upper and lower sections for safe and efficient stacking<\/strong>, to maximise the pallet load. The robust but lightweight design ensures easy handling by the end user.<\/p>
