At Fakuma, BASF is showcasing sustainable plastics solutions for a circular economy. Together with partners, the company is working on technologies and plastics for various industries.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Plastics have become an integral part of modern life. However, there is increasing public concern about their use. Therefore BASF<\/a> endeavours, Reduce plastic waste, conserve raw materials and maximise the potential of materials during use<\/strong>. Continuous innovations are necessary to achieve this goal. The company will be presenting a large number of these from 17 to 21 October at the 28. Fakuma<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>

One example of this is the polyamide Ultramid\u00a0<\/sup>Ccycled - a future-orientated mass-balanced product that supports the use of alternative raw materials from the chemical recycling of plastic waste<\/strong>. Chemical recycling currently uses plastic waste that is difficult to recycle, such as used tyres or mixed plastics, and keeps it in the material cycle. The recycled raw material is fed into the beginning of the BASF production network and allocated to the Ultramid Ccycled products using a mass balance approach. Fossil raw materials are thus replaced and saved. This solution is used in used in many segments, such as textiles and packaging<\/strong>. As Ultramid Ccycled has the same quality as the conventional product, it is also ideal for highly regulated applications such as food packaging.<\/p>

BASF has also made a lot of progress in the area of polyethylene\/polyamide multilayer films: Since autumn 2022, the new coextruded PE\/PA film structures as mechanically recyclable<\/strong>. Based on the analyses of the Institute cyclos-HTP GmbH<\/a> has the Central Agency Packaging Register Foundation<\/a> one Reclassification of the recyclability of polyamides in the minimum standard<\/strong> has been made. This is an important first step towards incorporating the benefits of polyamide-containing packaging and the latest findings on the recyclability of polyamides into the legal framework. As a major producer of Ultramid extrusion polyamides for multilayer films, BASF is involved in projects for an objective categorisation of polyamides in flexible packaging applications.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
